Inspirations from New York Fashion Week

You can find inspiration anywhere you look. You just have to LOOK for it. This being the Fashion Blog, we were inspired this week by New York’s fashion week. All the big name fashion designers have been showing off their spring collections this week(Yes, they are already thinking spring.) and these palette ideas come to you straight off the catwalks. Maybe one will inspire you for your next album.

We hope you have enjoyed your trip down catwalk inspiration. We will see you next week for some more new ideas.

Ciao for now,

Finao meets the notorious Bettie Page

It hasn’t slipped past our attention that boudoir has made a comeback. Our Image Preview Boxes and Image Portfolios have been highly popular during this resurgence but what about taking boudoir up a notch? What about a boudoir album?

For our fashion inspiration this week, we look to the ultimate pin-up girl…the notorious Bettie Page.

THE BETTIE PALETTE: 1. Dark & Bronzy (Magical Mystery Glass – upgrade cover)  2. Racing Stripes  3. El Tigre  4. Kitty Kitty  5. Red Light District  6. Passion  7. Something Wicked  8. Suspicion  9. Sunday Shoes  10. Optimism  11. Lusterin’ Hot  12. Queen for a Day

The Bettie Palette focuses on fun with fur (from the Zumanity collection) & texture (suedes from the Urban Legends collection) and just a hint of fetish (those shiny patent leathers). Mixing and matching glass-smooth patent leathers with furs and suedes to create visual (and even physical) sensuality is the key.

SPECIALTY COVERS:

Want a cover that gives a hint at what’s inside? The dark & bronzy Magical Mystery Glass option is truly the ultimate peep-show cover. A dark clear plexiglass cleverly hides the image beneath leaving only curiousity to passers by.

Let’s take a look at some Finao samples that fit into our Bettie Palette:

But it doesn’t stop there, the combinations are pretty endless but some other favorite concepts are these:

Finao has the materials to help you take those popular boudoir sessions outside the (preview) box.  When you are ready to take the leap, we will help you create your very own “notorious” album line so don’t be afraid to explore those urges…see you next week.

Ciao for now,

Pantone vs. Finao | Fall 2009

READY?   FIGHT!!!

Yes, the fashion blog is coming to you a day ahead of schedule, why? After a week on the road I’m hoping to take tomorrow off and enjoy a niiiice long holiday weekend but I didn’t want you folks to miss out on this week’s fun.

Now, as most of you realize, we buy bathing suits in December, sweaters in July and Christmas in October. What is up with that? Well, in the fashion and industry worlds ALL those things are planned out and picked sometimes over a year in advance. I could actually give you the Pantone colors for Fall of 2010 right now but who really thinks that far ahead?  Maybe we should start.

These are the things, industry driven, that are being picked for us and we don’t even know it until we see it in shops and stores across the country. One of the ways to stay on top of trends is to know what is coming, but who has time for that? Much less keep track of it a year ahead of time…yow!

Instead, for fun, I chose to just take a look at what we can expect this fall…according to Pantone at least (there are other sources out there)…and see how Finao faired with their current color trend for Fall 09. Let’s see how we did…

Pantone describes some of colors as follows:

  • AMERICAN BEAUTY – a balanced, true red, a need for cohesiveness and a feel good color.
  • PURPLE HEART – refinement, sensuality, creativity and excitement
  • HONEY YELLOW – carry through fall & winter with golden tones, strong yet understated.
  • IRON – the new black, make traditional more interesting.
  • CREME BRULEE – bridge the gap between beige & light.
  • NOMAD – timeless neutral
  • BURNT SIENNA – autumn sunsets
  • RAPTURE ROSE – add a spark to fall
  • WARM OLIVE – like an olive in a martini, a touch of elegance & sophistication.
  • MAJOLICA BLUE – add exotic flair

Overall, I don’t think Finao did too bad. We seem to have a pretty close match for most of those upcoming fall 09 colors. So now you know where to go when you need an album this fall that features the season’s hot colors, don’t you? :)

Have a safe holiday everybody, see you next week.
