Making the most out of Masqueradiance

Well, for you east coasters the fashion blog is fashionably late today because it is coming to you live from Vancouver, British Columbia. That’s right we are on the road but I’m keeping my promise of providing some creative tips and tricks for using Masqueradiance to finish out our look at the new Mixed Bag collection that is available for the Finao ONE.

Now, before we look at the colors I picked for this palette. I should preface this by saying that Masqeradiance is an interesting material. This probably more than most materials I would strongly suggest checking your swatches for. Why? It can kind of change colors. In daylight, the base color is a warm brown with a gold metallic stencil motif. Indoors under incandescent light it can turn very warm and reddish.  All I can say is don’t simply trust the images you see here…take theactual swatches and compare them yourself to double check and make sure they are the colors you want to use.  Afterall, we are just concepting here, having fun and trying out new ideas…some may be crazy. :)

1. optimism  2. opaline  3. ‘shroom  4. drifter  5. dulche de leche  6. chiara  7. junkyard dog  8. bomber jacket  9. miami ink  10. havana  11. rainy day woman  12. olea branch  13. magical mystery glass – dark & bronzy  14. magical mystery glass – muted & murky

Now, here is the sample that we made up waaaay back at the beginning of the year for WPPI and PPA. Since it has a big bold stencil pattern, it was felt that the best option for this material would be a simple single leather option with something like a cover cut-out or indentation…VOILA! That’s what we made

However, I still contend that it could be a cool accent stripe…maybe not for everyone but since it is a big pattern it could lend itself to some interesting abstractness.

I think the reverse could also be true. If using Masqueradiance as a main material, choosing an accent stripe that is on the simpler side could make an interesting visual statement as well.

And, as usual, Masqueradiance could work nicely with the right cover image to place under a Magical Mystery Glass specialty cover. Due to it’s strong stencil, it probably would be too much to try and use for an ICE, Armour or Erotika cover…but does anyone care to prove me wrong and come up with something that works?

There is your homework folks! Until next week…

Ciao

Creative uses with CU29

Welcome back to another edition of Fashion Fridays. We are continuing this week with more of the recently released Mixed Bag collection. For this edition we will be looking at CU29. Now, does anyone know where we got the name CU29? It’s the name for copper on the periodic table and we found it appropriate for this coppery metallic leather. CU29 has a delightfully warm tone and works well with many of our other leathers as both a main material and accent and can vary from earthy to funky depending on how you would like to pair it up with another color or texture.

THE PALETTE:

1. Copenhagen  2. Chiara  3. Junkyard Dog  4. Biker Chic  5. Suspicion  6. Miami Ink  7. Optimism  8. ‘Shroom  9. Firefly  10. Drifter  11. Dulche de Leche  12. Kitty Kitty  13. Painted Pony  14. Racing Stripes  15. Bling Dynasty  16. Magical Mystery Glass – Dark & Bronzy  17. Ipinema  18. Olea Branch  19. Rainy Day Woman  20. Havana  21. Scotch Pine * Not shown but also a good color: Opaline

When we found CU29 at a leather show we immediately thought it would be the perfect mate to go with another new material,l Bling Dynasty (from the Zumanity collection).  As some of you may remember from our PPA and WPPI shows earlier this year, we had the above two concept samples made up. These images actually show the shimmery quality of the Bling Dynasty and CU29 better than our material scans ever could. This is just another reason to invest in actual swatches. We make every effort to portray our colors as accurately as possible online, however, they never truly capture the quality 100% of the time.

As mentioned previously, CU29 is a rich warm coppery brown and can be paired with a similar color for a tone on tone accent or something contrasty and fun like a fur from the Zumanity collection. Since it is a metallic leather, we have found pairing it with a non-metallic or texture works best.1. Bling Dynasty accent  2. Chiara accent  3. Drifter accent  4. Dulche de Leche accent  5. Firefly accent  6. Kitty Kitty accent  7. Painted Pony accent  8. ‘Shroom accent  9. Racing Stripes accent

CU29 also works well in smaller doses when used as an accent instead of a main. Its copper metallic finish can add just a bit of ZING to an otherwise plain album, pair it with a green for a nice “earthy” look or mate it with a lighter color like Opaline for a visual pop.

10. ‘Shroom main  11. Drifter main  12. Firefly main  13. Havana main  14. Ipinema main  15. Junkyard Dog main  16. Miami Ink main  17. Opaline main  18. Rainy Day Woman main

DONT’ FORGET ABOUT SPECIALTY COVERS:

I think CU29 would go swimmingly with the Magical Mystery Glass (Dark & Bronzy option) if you are looking for something that is a bit more mysterious. It could also go well with an Armour, ICE or Erotika cover depending on the colors in your chosen image. Stick to something warm and bronzy and you are sure to have a hit on your hands.

Well, thanks for stopping by for another edition of Fashion Fridays. We hope we helped get those creative juices flowing a bit. We will finish up Mixed Bag next week by looking at the last new leather, Masqueradiance.  Get ready to get some romance on with that one so stop back next week.

Ciao,

Mixing it up with Mixed Bag!

Welcome to our first ever Fashion Blog post. Our idea behind the fashion blog is to generate ideas, point out trends and help you find new ways of creating fun, funky and fabulous albums. With that being said…let’s hop to it, shall we?

What better way to start off Fashion Fridays than by looking at some of our new Mixed Bag materials that were released this week. For this installment we have selected our silver, metallic options, Saturday Night Special and Shrike Skin. Both have a similar color palette that they work well with so it just makes sense to tackle them both at once.

Due to the metallic nature of these materials, we have kept the palette fairly simple by selecting some classic blacks and whites to go along with an eye-catching red for contrast.

As any follower to Finao can attest, we like accents here. Basic leather is boring. Evenwith the limited palette here, you can still achieve some very stylish effects by simply mixing basic colors with metallics or a highly textured material with a smooth material. Here are just a few examples of what we mean…

Now, this is, by no means, an exhaustive list of combinations. There are definitely more possibilities than this but we wanted to help jump start your brainstorming process to help get you on the path of finding a combination that will work for your album project.

Don’t forget the specialty covers too…

The silvers work well with our brushed metal Bullet specialty cover and maybe even our Erotika specialty cover, depending on on your image. The black & white image shown in this example worked great because so much of the white end dropped out. In this case, it simply left behind lots of metal showing through underneath.

So there you have it. Your first foray into Fashion Friday and Mixed Bag. Come back next Friday and we will take a look at some other possibilities with this new collection.

Ciao for now,
